Important: The meeting on the 22.1.2007 will not take place from 10-12, but from 12-14 instead.
Kick-off meeting: On the 16th of october, 10-12am in the seminar room of the biological department (room number 1322), Invalidenstr. 43.

Times and Places:
Tuesday 10-12am in the seminar room of the biological department (room number 1322), Invalidenstr. 43.

Target group:
The course is designed for students of biology, biophysics, physics, informatics and medicine after the "Vordiplom" and, in particular, to graduate students in neurobiology. Some background in neurobiology will be an advantage.

Topics :
The basis of the seminar is the book "23 problems in systems neuroscience". Inspired by David Hilbert's famous 23 problems, it contains 23 essays by different authors, each of which addresses a basic and yet elusive problem of neuroscience. The appeal of the book lies in the breadth of different topics and description levels it covers. In this sense, the seminar aims at giving the participants an overview of the current state of the art of computational neuroscience.

Format :
Each seminar should cover one or two of the book's essays in talks of ca. 30/60 min duration, followed by a discussion.

Criteria for the "Schein":
Presentation of one of the essays and regular attendance.
