Help me, I cannot open the Terminal on Gnome 3.

So, you want to start the Gnome 3 Terminal but all of a sudden, it won’t open. All you see is the ‘wait’ cursor for a while and then nothing happens.

This could be related to a bug that we recently introduced. #sadface.

We are working on it but in the meantime there may be a work-around by re-setting the language that Gnome 3 uses.

Terminal does not start.

Click the top-right corner to open the Gnome 3 user menu and then open the Gnome Control Center by clicking the round button on the left.

Now open Region & Language.

We want to re-set the language. To do that, please click the first line saying ‘Language – English’. A popup should open.

In this popup there may be a number of languages but none of them should be checked (if one is checked, than this may be an entirely different bug). To fix issues, please choose one of the languages.

Gnome wants you to log off before the settings take effect. Please click ‘Restart Now’ (in most cases, this will only log you off but should be fine anyways).
