We seek higly motivated students with a background in physics, mathematics, informatics or biology, to work in interdisciplinary projects involving wet lab work, mathematical modelling and bioinformatics. We are currently recruiting new members and are looking for two PhD students in the field of modelling and bioinformatics! Available projects include mathematical modelling of the circadian clock and circadian networks in a cancer context and analysis of alternative splicing switches in tumorigenesis. We are looking forward for your application!
Applications, including a two pages (max) CV and a one page (max) motivation letter should be sent to: angela.relogio@charite.de.
PhD students may be recruited via the Berlin School of Integrative Oncology (BSIO). The BSIO offers a doctoral program in the field of integrative oncology and features excellent research conditions.
information about the group
The group is highly interdisciplinary and includes both dry lab facilities at the Institute of Theoretical Biology - ITB and wet lab facilities at the Molecular Cancer Research Center of the Charité - MKFZ. Our group cooperates with several groups within the BSIO School and also with institutes outside Berlin such as the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg, the Institute for Molecular Medicine (IMM) in Lisbon and the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) in Barcelona. We work together with bioinformaticians, physicists, molecular biologists and medical doctors which forms an exciting and fertile scientific environment. Our working language is english. However, learning german will make your life easier and allow you to better enjoy Berlin. Several language courses are available in the city.
berlin
Berlin is a fantastic city to live, study and work! It is a world city of culture, politics, media, and science. It is home to 3.5 million people from all over the world. The city hosts renowned universities, orchestras, museums, entertainment venues, and many sports events. It is a favourite chosen location for international film festivals (Berlinale), fashion and cultural events. The city is well known for its diverse architecture, nightlife, contemporary arts, and a high quality of living. Berlin has also an excellent network of public transports that will allow you to explore the city. Several bike routes (and bike tours!) are available as well. The city also welcomes families and offers several activities and places to visit with children as well as a very broad selection of high quality day-cares. It is a surprisingly green city. Around one third of the city's area is composed of forests, parks, gardens, rivers and lakes.
